SHARON BART
Sharon Ann Bart died at the age of sixty-nine. Sharon was a resident of Portland, Oregon, at the time of her death on January 19, 2019.
A New York native, Sharon grew up on Long Island. She had a long NYPL career which included positions in the Research Library as well as several Lower East Side branches. Sharon was the Assistant Unit Head at the Nathan Straus Young Adult Library at the Donnell Library Center. She then became Branch Librarian at the Tompkins Square Branch. In 1987, Sharon assumed the position of Supervising Young Adult Specialist at the Manhattan Borough Office. In 1990, Sharon relocated to Miami, Florida, to begin an administrative position at the Miami-Dade Public Library System. 1999 saw Sharon move to Portland where she worked in a variety of positions at the Multnomah County Library, managed several large technology grants, and retired in 2012 as the Manager of the Sellwood Branch.
Sharon maintained a lifelong passion for public service. She was an enthusiastic and knowledgeable fan of rock ‘n roll music and popular culture. Sharon valued knowledge and reading along with a love of animals. She is survived by her brother Michael, of Del Ray Beach, Florida.
