Clara BOUTTE
Clara Boutte died early in the year 2021. She was hired as an office aide (clerk) in the late 80s and retired as an office associate (senior clerk) in 2010. She started her career at the Office of Adult Services and quickly moved on to work at 115th Street. She also worked briefly at Macomb’s Bridge and retired from 125th Street.
"I would like to let you all know about the passing of My Library Mother Clara Boutte. She was another mother to me in the library next to my biological mother Belen Garcia. Ms. Boutte was a professional and the best supervisor to me when I started my job in 1989 at the 125th Street Library with James Drumgo and Margie Washington. We became coworkers but more family. Mama Boutte was a woman that taught me to continue to be the best. She saw the best in me when I didn’t. I will miss you Mama Boutte, and I acknowledge all your hard work with the New York Public Library. Thank you for all you have done for me!" Valerie Garcia
