Harriet GOTTFRIED
Harriet Gottfried died on June 13, 2023. Harriet’s long and varied NYPL career began with Children’s Librarian positions at the Hamilton Fish Park and Epiphany branches. After serving as Branch Librarian at Hudson Park and Riverside, as well as Adult Services Programming Specialist and East Side Regional Librarian, Harriet became the Assistant Coordinator at the Office of Special Services. In 2001, Harriet was appointed as the Branch Libraries first Director of Training and Staff Development, a position she held until her retirement in 2003. She served on numerous ALA and NYPL committees and provided Book Discussion Leadership Training. Harriet will be remembered for her dedication and humor, along with a strong commitment to the principles of librarianship. Condolences may be sent to her daughter, Lisa Carroll, 621 Fulton Street, Wausau, WI 54403.
