Anne SKILLION

We are sad to report the death of NYPL retiree Anne Skillion on May 29, 2024. Anne died in New York at the age of seventy-nine.
A native of Pasadena, California, Anne received a Master of Science in Library Service from Columbia University. After working at the Columbia library for a short period, Anne began her NYPL career in 1981 as a Librarian in the General Research Division. Her area of specialty was British and American literature. Anne subsequently assumed the position of Special Assistant for Programs and Services in the Research Libraries Administrative Office. She was the Editor of Biblion: The Bulletin of the New York Public Library from 1992-2000. In addition, she created and edited Research Libraries Notes, an in-house NYPL journal. Anne moved to the Publications Office, where she remained until her retirement in July 2006.
Anne continued to do freelance editing and co-wrote a book on the New York Botanical Garden where she worked for a period of time. Throughout her career, she wrote and edited numerous books, including The New York Public Library Literature
Companion
and Introducing the Great American Novel. She had numerous literary projects underway and continued to enjoy a strong interest in French culture and film throughout her retirement.
