Dorothy SWERDLOVE
From Karen Nickeson: I learned last week with sadness that the Theatre Division's former Curator, Dorothy Swerdlove, passed away on December 30th at her home in Tucson. Dorothy retired from the Library in 1990 after 29 years in the Theatre Division and was highly respected and much loved by the staff here. Several of us received Christmas cards from Dorothy indicating that she was well and active until a sudden illness afflicted her.
Dorothy served on the Executive Board of the Theatre Library Association and as President from 1983 to 1985. She was the longtime sectretary/treasurer of the Outer Critics Circle and vice-president of SIBMAS
(International Association of Libraries and Museums of the Performing Arts). Dorothy was a devoted volunteer at the Central Park Zoo and a member of the Snarks, a local amateur female theatre company.
I remember Dorothy as a tireless and cheerful colleague and I know many of you will miss her. I have only just received official word on her passing and I share her family's obituary here in this link.
