About Us
Founded in 1993, The NYPL Retirees Association is an independent organization open to retirees of NYPL from all areas of the Library, clerical, professional, and support. Everyone is welcome. Staff members over age 55 who are still working are also invited to join. Our purpose is to advocate in areas of common concern for retirees, support library services, and provide educational and recreational programs for members. Our Newsletter is published twice yearly and contains articles and brief news notes from our members.
The Association is also conducting an Oral History Project, the purpose of which is to collect and preserve unique and valuable information about The New York Public Library that exists only in the memories of those who worked for the Library. Through taped interview, as well as written reminiscences, we seek to supplement, with information that would otherwise be lost, what is already known of the Library's rich history and to honor the contributions of the staff to that history.
Membership is $15 a year or $40 for a three year membership. To get a Membership Form, click on the link, Join, in the Menu Bar at the top of this page.
