In the article “Undertaking Its Destruction” by Ada Louise Huxtable, in the December 4, 2012, Wall Street Journal, Huxtable says, "After extensive study of the library's conception and construction, I have become convinced that irreversible changes of this magnitude should not be made in this landmark building. I am not going to rehearse the intellectual, literary and sentimental arguments already on the record. This all about the building, a subject that has not been adequately addressed."

A Chronology of Press Clippings About The NYPL’s Central Library Plan
PENSION PLAN PROPOSED CHANGES
The media has reported on attempts in the New York State legislature to change our pension system. Our pensions are secured by Article 5, Section 7 of the New York State Constitution: “membership in any pension or retirement system of the state or of a civil division thereof shall be a contractual relationship, the benefits of which shall not be diminished or impaired.” A revised constitution could be a threat to our pensions. Those in favor of changing the above Section have a statement at www.unshackleupstate.com/assets/news/letnyworkagenda.pdf. The New York State Retired Teachers’ Association has a statement against changing the section, http://www.nysrta.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/York-State.pdf

An article, "The Education of Tony Marx," appeared in the October 10, 2012 The New York Times. "After a rough start, the president of the New York Public Library is facing the challenge of bringing the institution into the 21st century…" A rewritten version of the article occurred on the New York Times website. A comment by David Stam, formerly the Andrew W. Mellon Director of the Research Libraries, appeared in the October 18 newspaper.
Because The New York Times links are impossibly long, the best way to get to these items is to first Google "The Education of Tony Marx," and then afterward Google, "The Education of Tony Marx" coupled with David Stam.
