Sylvia VON OBERLEITHNER
Sylvia Von Oberleithner died on September 6, 2014. She was 88 years of age and resided in Columbia, Maryland.
Sylvia was born in Austria and emigrated to the United States. Her NYPL career included many years as the Assistant Head of the Monograph Cataloging Division. She retired in July, 1991, and relocated to Columbia to be near family.
Sylvia was a Retirees Association member during the earliest years of our Association. She is remembered by colleagues as a consummate professional whose strong voice and direct manner belied an underlying sense of fun and humor. Her Legacy.com remembrance includes a tribute from her family, who also fondly recall her upfront demeanor, which always resulted in making them laugh.
