Gerald GOLD
We have recently learned of the death of Gerald Gold. Jerry passed away peacefully on August 16, 2023. He resided at Kendal on Hudson in Sleepy Hollow, New York. He is survived by his husband, Ed Hanin. Together for sixty-nine years, they were married in 2011. Jerry was ninety-six years of age at the time of his death.
Jerry began his NYPL career in 1951 at the 115th Street Branch. He was an Assistant Librarian at Clason’s Point in 1952. After completing his degree in Library Science, he was a Librarian at the Eastchester and Melcourt Branches. After serving as Assistant Branch Librarian at Parkchester, Jerry returned to 115th Street as Branch Librarian in 1955. In 1956, he was appointed Assistant to the Director, Office of the Branch Libraries, a position he held until 1961. He spent the next ten years at the Bronx Borough Office as Assistant Coordinator and then Coordinator. Jerry completed his career as the Business Manager at the NYPL Business Office, a position he held until his retirement in 1982.
